Simply adorable and a SUPER SPECIAL piece! Sitting on a big book.
The marking on the base reads'Germany. Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens was established in 1899 but it wasn't the first porcelain business of the Ens family. Karl Ens (senior) founded in 1860 the Triebner, Ens & Co. In 1899 he left the company starting a new business, which swiftly gained reputation for producing high quality items. The company founder had two sons, Karl and Eduard. Karl junior ran the factory from 1919 to 1939. In 1972 the company was nationalized and became a part of VEB Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur as VEB Unterglasurporzellanfabrik. Finally in 1990 the factory was privatized again.Measurements: Height 3 3/4" x Width 3 1/2" x Depth 2 1/4. Antique Condition: Inspected with a magnifying glass.
1 chip and 1 nick (crack line above the nick) to bottom dress ruffle by right knee/leg. A glaze fleck on back neck ruffle. Even with these flaws, it's a magnificant piece. I do have another one listed separately. It's a little girl with a pink ruffled dress stepping over a book.
